Science Week 13th – 17th November.

Our pupils really enjoyed Science Week. Our junior classes paired up with our senior classes. Many of them worked in small station settings together. They had lots of fun carrying out some weird and wonderful experiments!!

Maths Week took place in our school from 16th – 20th October.

October is ‘Yard Games Month’ in The Harold!!!

We run our Yard Games Programme throughout the school for the month of October. This programme has been very successful in helping our pupils become more comfortable at yard time. Our older pupils engage in peer teaching – they work in small group settings and they teach our younger pupils new and exciting games to play at yard time. There is an emphasis placed on fair play, turn taking and being kind to others. Strategies to help decision making in games are also taught. Our pupils really enjoy this initiative. Aside from the many benefits listed above, it also provides a great opportunity for our pupils to get out in the fresh air and most importantly, to get active!

September was a very busy month in The Harold!

We celebrated Friendship Week.

The Harold School ‘Sport for All Days’ ……. 12th & 13th June.

                                   Sport for all

Our Sport for All Days were a great success this year. Participation was at an all time high due to the new format. The children had a chance to participate in fun sports activities at the school grounds. They also travelled up to Cuala field where they competed in running races, relay races and a broad selection of novelty races. We have received some very positive feedback from our pupils on the new format. Great fun was had by all.

A huge thanks to all our staff and to our 6th class pupils for their hard work on the days. Thanks to our parents for their support of this new initiative.

Orienteering on Killiney Hill

Our 5th and 6th Class pupils particpated in an exciting Orienteering event on Killiney Hill on the 15th of June. It was a wonderful opportunity for our senior pupils and all participants have had nothing but praise for the event. The event was a great opportunity to promote the Outdoor and Adventure strand of the P.E curriculum. It was a great team building exercise for our pupils and an opportunity to develop skills such as problem solving, map reading, team strategies and athleticism in a real life setting!  Thanks to all the teachers and parents who were involved on the day – this event couldn’t have gone ahead without their support.

The pupils and staff of The Harold got really active during

National Active School Week from 24th – 28th April.

We had a fantastic week with all kinds of activities taking place around the school. It was great fun and was even descibed by some of our pupils as being “the best week ever”!!!!!
Our Active Committee worked really hard planning an action-packed and fun filled week for all. Our staff and pupils really embraced the week and exciting activities began with gusto on the Monday morning.

We had the pleasure of welcoming local Olympic silver medalist, Annalise Murphy, to The Harold recently. Annalise addressed our assembly and gave our pupils a very inspirational speech about her path to olympic success. Annalise was very friendly and down to earth – she spent some time meeting our pupils, chatting about sailing and posing for photographs!

We celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge in style this year!

Bhí na ranganna go léir an-ghnóthach i rith na seachtaine. Bhí ár bpáistí ag labhairt Gaeilge, chan siad amhráin agus bhí siad go léir ag damhsa sa chlós ag an gcéilí mór.

Ghlac gach duine páirt i dtaispeáintais sa halla freisin.
